Description 1. Job Purpose

To ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of all electrical and automation systems in the glass processing line by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring safety compliance.


2. Key Responsibilities

A. Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform regular preventive and predictive maintenance on machines such as:
Tempering furnace
Cutting table (CNC automatic cutting)
Four edging / seaming machines
Drilling machines
Polishing/Grinding machines
Laminated glass furnace
IGU/DGU line
Air compressors, chillers, and blowers
Diagnose electrical faults and repair panels, wiring, sensors, relays, and drives.
Attend breakdowns immediately to reduce production downtime.
B. PLC, Drives & Automation

Troubleshoot PLC and HMI-based systems used in glass machinery.
Work with VFDs, soft starters, servo drives, limit switches, and PLC I/O modules.
Monitor machine automation performance and support calibration activities.
C. Electrical Systems Oversight

Maintain and inspect plant electrical infrastructure, including:
LT panels
DG sets (coordination with operators)
UPS & stabilizers
Transformers
Main power distribution
Ensure stable electrical supply to production equipment.
D. Preventive Maintenance Planning

Prepare and follow PM schedules for all equipment.
Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and machine history records.
Identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
E. Spare Parts & Inventory Management

Monitor availability of electrical spares (sensors, contactors, relays, VFD cards, modules).
Raise purchase requests for required spares.
Maintain records of spare usage and stock levels.
F. Safety & Compliance

Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
Conduct safety inspections for electrical panels, cables, and machine connections.
Maintain compliance for audits (ISO, safety audits, statutory inspections).
G. Coordination

Coordinate with production team to plan machine shutdowns for maintenance.
Work with mechanical maintenance team on combined issues.
Support vendor technicians for major repairs and upgrades.

3. Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of electrical systems in glass processing machinery.
Hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, automation panels.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
Knowledge of safety standards (electrical & machinery safety).
Ability to work under pressure and manage breakdown situations effectively.
Good communication and documentation skills.

4. Qualification & Experience

Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
3-8 years experience as Electrical Engineer/Technician in Glass Processing or similar manufacturing environments.
Experience with tempering/lamination/IGU machinery is highly preferred.
